Healthy Columbus Holiday Gift Guide

I looooove this time of year! I am one of those people who honestly loves holiday shopping! Are you with me? I feel closer to my family and good friends when I stop and take the time to really think about the things that they love to do, and then to find a gift that they’ll appreciate.

Of course I can’t be normal and buy the usual stuff. I have to make it hard on myself and get all creative. Plus, I like to put a healthy spin on things whenever I can.

But why keep all of this to myself? I’m happy to share my ideas and save you some time!

I also LOVE Columbus, so many of the gifts in here will be PERFECT for you if you like to shop local. O-H!…

Goldfish Swim School Holiday Gift Basket

You’ve been reading all about our excellent experiences with swim lessons at Goldfish. If you want to surprise your kids, or other kiddos on your gift list, with lessons this is THE best time to do it. We bought this last year and we have been excited to see what is in the basket this year!
I love giving experiences instead of material gifts, even more so when it supports Columbus businesses at the same time! The Goldfish Swim School Holiday Basket includes two months of swim lessons (the gift of water safety!) and an array of free family experiences from local businesses, including:
$193 Family Credit at Goldfish Swim School
2 Family Swim Passes at Goldfish Swim School

1 Attraction Pass to Magic Mountain Fun Center
The basket is sold for $205 and the value is well over $500, and it can be purchased at Goldfish Swim School in Dublin or Westerville.

Massages are one of my favorite presents. We all know we could stand to get them more often, and we definitely would, but it’s hard to find the time and justify the price. I have had excellent experiences with Elements Massage. You can select how deep you want the pressure and how long the appointment will be. The rooms are dim and soothing, and I always walk out of there feeling so chill. Just what everyone needs this time of year. Their holiday gift deal is buy $100, get $25. Yes, please.

Mind Over Lather

You guys, I just discovered this one. Mind Over Lather makes 10 incredible-sounding yoga mat cleaning sprays. I want them alllllll. (And the yogi on your list will too). They are created by a mother, wife, yoga instructor, and chemical engineer out of Ottowa Hills, OH. They supply Pai Yoga and Mat Happy if you want to shop in person. They’ve sent us a discount code good for 10% off online purchases! Just enter THANKYOU at checkout.

ClassPass Membership

ClassPass is SO great! Did you check out ClassPass: it’s like joining ALL THE GYMS? It really is! With one membership, your friend can get access to TONS of Columbus gyms! And since you can pick how many classes per month they will get, the price depends on which package you choose. Learn more here. OR (you’re going to like where I am going with this)…make this all about you. Don’t worry, it will help your friend out too. Buy yourself a membership at $30 off using this link THEN buy your friend a membership and go take classes together! It’s way more fun to work out with your friend! I’ll come too. Hit me up.

Balletmet Performance Tickets

How about a little fitspiration? I don’t know about you, but I always leave a BalletMet performance eager to do some Pilates or take a dance class. We are SO lucky to have a world-class ballet company in Columbus. The performances coming at you this season range from story ballets (Giselle, Dorothy and the Prince of Oz) to contemporary ballet (Tour de Force). Subscriptions and flexible packages are available.

Bend Activewear

There are so many great activewear brands to shop this season. I like Bend because it’s a local business and they have GOBS of Ohio State stuff. I love their colorful, fun pants and comfortable tees.

Juice Bar Gift Card

If you’re looking for a good alternative to the Starbucks card you gave the last 5 years, these options feel fresher and more exciting to me. Not that I’m turning down a Starbucks card anytime soon. I had a hard time narrowing this down to one juice bar, so I am guiding you to them all. Zest is in Dublin, Easton, Grandview, and the Short North. They make all kinds of juices, smoothies, toasts, and full lunch options, but the pistachio cookie smoothie has my heart. Alchemy rocks so hard; the food is visually stunning (and delicious) and the juices are well-priced. They also have a whole lunch menu, as does the sister restaurant Trism, but your friend can also get a drink at the full bar there. The Cookie Monster is nice to look at, but order the Nutty Dragon and thank me later. If your friend spends time in Bexley, Short North, or German Village, hook him or her up with a card to Native. Their juices, smoothies, and bowls are sooo pretty and yummy. My daughter likes the pink juice. Duh. Their salads (Blackbird Eats) and yogurts are prepared in a case, and although it’s the shortest list of options, they are DAMN good. Basically, you can’t go wrong. Now I’m hungry. Darn.

Sweaty Bands

This company is out of Cincinnati and made it big. I can’t normally wear headbands because they slip off, but I discovered these about 5 years ago and they really stay put. I love their cool designs. They have TONS of options, and its always changing.

OK, you caught me. I’m going off the local theme. But I really wanted to share this one because I kept seeing things about it and finally subscribed over the summer. I have LOVED getting these boxes full of goodies. Everything you or your friend orders relates to being physically, mentally, or socially fit and healthy. We all deserve to indulge in some good self care. Every member gets access to their FabFitFunTV, which provides a wide range of really great workout videos for those chilly days you don’t want to hit the gym.

Victoria Sport: the best sports bra everrrr

K, so you probably don’t want to guess your friend’s sports bra size and get that wrong, but if you give her a gift card to Victoria’s Secret along with a tip a little birdie told you, she’ll thank you. If I haven’t annoyed you yet raving about how in love I am with the new Air Max bra, here’s my chance. Remember this one? What Columbus Wears to Work Out? I featured the glorious thing that is, indeed, the perfect sports bra. And L Brands is local, so it fits the theme. Go with it.

Membership to gym

I don’t even know where to start here. We are SO lucky in Columbus to have SO many amazing locally owned gyms that I had to make a whole blog about it. All I can say, is if there’s something you’ve read about on the blog, chances are they’ll be having some kind of holiday deal. Make sure you’re following me on Instagram and keep your eyes on my stories. I’ll try to keep up with it all.

I can’t quit without throwing in a few ideas I had that aren’t local because you can never have too many healthy gift ideas. Something that motivates me, is setting and meeting activity goals on my Apple Watch. I like that it serves so many functions; I use it to reply to texts, answer calls when my hands are tied, get an instant view of the weather, find my phone, keep a constant watch on my calendar, and of course tell the time. The comfiest pants I’ve ever found are Lululemon Align pants, which are great for yoga and Pilates. People often ask me what kind of yoga mat I have, and I bought it at Rowe, but I don’t believe they sell them anymore. It is made by La Vie Boheme (that’s the closest to mine I could find) and the mats are so beautiful and mine has held up really well. Your friend might want a phenomenal blender. In which case, the Vitamix is the cream of the crop and can do more than just smoothies.
